File Extension M4p

The .m4p extension is actually fairly new, stemming from the creation of the successor to the .mp3 format, which is the .m4a extension. The .m4a extension can be separated into its respective layers, containing audio and video data which is decoded simultaneously. The audio stripped from this file type is called AAC, and standing alone, it receives the .m4p extension. So, simply put, a .m4p file is audio data, very similar to .mp3 files. Part of the reason for this new generation of music file's creation is so that a form of copy protection, also known as DRM or digital rights management can be utilized which is not available in the .mp3 format.

I really do love FileCure because it's so easy to use - you don't have to be some kind of computer guru to get just what you need!

Plug and play? Not even close. I spent a lot of time trying to get my new, so-called 'plug and play' scanner to work. I was about ready to take it back. ParetoLogic FileCure got it working and saved me a needless trip (and gas!!) back to the store.

I have to admit I'm no computer geek. When something goes wrong, I usually have to call someone to fix it and it costs me a lot of money. When my printer wouldn't work, a friend of mine suggested I try ParetoLogic FileCure a try. I figured it was worth a shot because I was going to have to pay for a geek anyway. I was so happy when it worked... and worked properly!

I figured the graphics card my grandson gave me was broken when I couldn't get it work on my computer. It turns out that I just didn't have the right driver. ParetoLogic FileCure got it workin.

Hello FileCure folks:

I can't thank you enough for this great product. I just bought a new Vista machine and had been having all kinds of problems. First it was my screen and once I got that fixed it was the printer . Finally, my son suggested I try your product. It worked great and continues to keep my computer working. Thanks you.

I hate paying a lot of money for anything. That's why I buy mostly used computer equipment. Last week I thought I got taken when I bought a scanner. It just would not work. ParetoLogic Driver Cure got it working. With the updates, it makes sure my stuff will keep working and that I don't have to pay more money.

I work at a school so my mom thinks I am some kind of computer whiz. I have wasted so much time trying to get her stuff to work. Our IT guy suggested I try ParetoLogic FileCure. It has been a godsend and has saved me a lot of wasted hours. My mom and I can't thank you enough.

My wife bought me a new Vista system, and ever since I have had problems with some of my hardware. I saw FileCure, and decided to give it a shot. Ever since, the Vista and my hardware have been working great. Thanks!

Nick Shultz, Canberra, Australia

I upgraded my system to Vista, and my printer started to act funny. No error messages, but it just wasn't working quite right. I read that drivers could sometimes be the problem. I looked online and saw FileCure. After downloading FileCure, my printer works great. You guys rock!

Copy protected music files have become increasingly more widespread as the transition to a digital distribution model for songs and albums has steadily progressed. As time goes on, you will probably come across more and more of these in the future. While copy protection is not infallible and can be circumvented, the hope is that the average person will be unwilling to spend the significant amount of extra time it takes to simply copy or move a song somewhere that its producers would rather it not be. There are many different DRM configurations; the one that is used by this file type is called "Fairplay." In some cases, copy protection consists of a mechanism that prevents more than one copy of the file from being made; In this case, the number of different computers that the file can be played on is limited, though it can be copied from a computer to a portable device without disturbing the original copy. The maximum number of different computers the file can be played on is five. You are required to log in to your iTunes account for verification. Depending on your preferences, this could be more trouble than it's worth.

More Info Regarding File Extension M4p

Specifically, the .m4p extension is utilized by the iTunes service provided by Apple. In case you didn't know, iTunes is the most widely used digital distribution platform operating on the internet right now. Fortunately, once the track is purchased through Apple's online store interface it can be played by a large number of audio players. Aside from iTunes and Quicktime, some of the others are MediaPlayerClassic, VLC, Realplayer, Winamp, et cetera. Playing the file should be the easy part. Figuring out how to move it around may be a little more difficult. If you're looking to play a .m4p file on some kind of portable audio device, your options are going to be somewhat limited. A sure bet for playing this file type would be any of Apple's current line of iPod audio players, using the iTunes interface for transfer.

Apple is really trying to get people to play ball with their entire setup. The idea is to get iTunes to be the only application you play music with, while using only iPod portable music players. All parts of the system are dependent on each other; it becomes extremely difficult to use any one of these without the other. If you want to support the artists you listen to by purchasing their music online but still need the flexibility afforded to the user with the universal .mp3 file, there are tools available for conversion.

Aside from the technological accomplishment of protecting the distribution of .m4p files from unauthorized distribution, .m4p format manages to considerably decrease the file size of a given audio sample, while at the same time preserving its quality. An .mp3 file and an .m4p file may sound exactly the same, while at the same time, the amount of data contained in the .m4p is considerably lessened. This means you can fit more files in the same amount of space under this compression technique. If you are looking for a similarly more efficient way to save your .mp3s but don't want the DRM, you can try the Ogg Vorbis format. It's open source and compatible with free software available for all major operating systems.

It is unlikely you will run across this file format unless you have purchased your music online. In some places, it is a violation of the law to convert an "encrypted" file protected with DRM to another format, such as .mp3. Be sure to check your local laws to ensure you are not doing anything illegal.
